Description
Heriz
Heriz, a large village of 25,000 inhabitants is located at north western Iran. Its rugs have been known for a long time not for their delicacy or intricate beauty, but for their robustness. They always have a large central motif. Rugs from this village are usually woven in brick or rust reds, and occasionally in deep blues. Heriz rugs are produced in a range of sizes that begins at about 5 by 3 feet; it is rare to find anything smaller than this. The rugs from the actual village of Heriz are in general of better quality than those of the same type from the neighbouring villages.
