This weaving village is located in south-western Iran. Its weaving tradition and designs have been influenced by much older Persian designs. The most popular pattern is the geometrical design, a large diamond shaped field filled with a medallion surrounded by small flowers and leaf patterns, which is resembles the classic Qashqai design. This design is tightly woven in short pile of fine cotton warps in bright, primary colours, particularly deep reds. Another design that appears less frequently is a repeating patter of baskets of flowers.
Abadeh rugs come in sizes ranging from 3 foot by 2 foot mats to 7 foot square carpets. They are beautiful yet sturdy rugs that are most suitable for first time buyers. Ideally placed beside the bed or on landings.
